GBCI EDGE Auditor Resources

Key Updates

  • As a GBCI EDGE Auditor, you can audit projects in any country included in the EDGE App with the following exceptions: Belarus, Colombia, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Sudan, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.

  • End of Remote Audits - In September 2024, IFC announced that the policy allowing remote audits during the COVID-19 pandemic has been discontinued. Auditors are now mandated to conduct at least one in-person visit to each project seeking certification. However, EDGE Certification providers can apply for an exemption from this requirement in cases of exceptional circumstances, such as safety issues. Remote follow-up inspections may still be permitted when considered essential and approved by EDGE Certification providers. It should be noted that existing contracts between Auditors and Project Teams that include provisions for remote audits remain unaffected by this change.

Through this model your firm can provide both EDGE Auditor services and EDGE Expert or other consultancy services, creating a more seamless certification experience for your customers. Learn how your firm can become a GBCI EDGE One-Stop Shop.

Requirements for a Single Firm to Deliver Both Auditor and EDGE Expert Services on a Project
The same company may provide EDGE Audit and EDGE Expert consultancy or other services for the same project as long as (a) the EDGE Auditor and the EDGE Expert and/or other service provider are separate individuals and (b) the company clearly defines the EDGE Auditor scope of work and associated fees separately from any other services offered (including EDGE Expert consultancy) for the project on their proposal and contract.

Note: The EDGE Auditor will disclose this and any other potential conflicts of interest to GBCI via a reply to our COI Confirmation Check email. This email is sent during the registration process once the owner or EDGE Expert identifies their choice of EDGE Auditor for the project. The assignment of the EDGE Auditor is subject to the approval of GBCI.

EDGE Auditor Maintenance Requirements & Fees
