Pune, India—(28 November 2017)—Today, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and GBCI, the organization that certifies all LEED projects globally, have established a strategic alliance to promote the principles and practices of green and smart construction that align with PMC’s green building program.

Together, PMC and GBCI will promote green building concepts within the municipal area and encourage new and existing building projects to register under suitable GBCI green business programs, including LEED and EDGE. With support from GBCI, PM will work to educate the community about the environmental, financial and health benefits of green buildings through workshops, seminars, trainings and awareness programs to be announced at a later time.

"Pune is a very progressive city and one of the top amongst the smart cities. Adoption of LEED and EDGE in Pune shall give an enormous boost to construction of green buildings in the city and steer market transformation,” said Mili Majumdar, managing director, GBCI India.

GBCI is the premier organization independently recognizing excellence in green business industry performance and practice globally. Through its work with PMC, GBCI will facilitate awareness-raising and market development events that educate the public on best practices related to the design, construction, maintenance and operations of green buildings.
